Industrial action was taken by Ouyen-based railwaymen who were members of the Australian Railways Union. In mid-December 1985, they imposed bans on work involving sleepers and plant trains after senior staff ordered the movement of sleepers and plant to Donald from Ouyen during a one-day railway strike in November 1985. The bans were lifted on 12-12-1985.
