Waybills

From the Don Matheson and Bruce McLean Collections

Waybills used by the Victorian Railways and State Transport Authority and major consignees such as the Grain Elevators Board and Australian Barley Board, consisted of small cards, often with an identifiable color, which were attached to wagons by a clip which was usually located on the left hand corner of each side of a wagon. Waybills usually indicated the date, originating station, destination station, weight and wagon number.

The waybills illustrated are a small sample of the many types used.

Road making metal was sent from Maryborough to Yelta for sealing the Silver City Highway between Wentworth and Broken Hill in GY wagons.
