Tiega was opened for goods traffic during construction of the line from 19-12-1910.

When officially opened, Tiega had a 150 foot passenger platform and a cart dock, 17 foot x 8 foot 6 inches shelter shed with a locker and wooden sleeper floor. A loop goods siding had a 50 x 16 foot goods platform. A private 12 tons weighbridge was located in the goods yard.

Passenger and goods traffic was sparse. In 1947/48 for example, there were 2 outward passengers, 14 tons of inwards goods and 54 tons of outwards goods. Only 16 tons of inward freight was sent to Tiega in the 1953/54 period and the Commissioners had no hesitation in deciding that Tiega did not have a future.

The station was closed to all traffic from 4-1-1954 and all facilities were removed by the end of the year.
